Prior to the end of the tenancy it is advised to check back over the original inventory compiled at the start of the tenancy. Ensure any furniture items remain in the property and if possible return them to the original position if moved. Check the cleaning schedule and ensure you either arrange cleaners or clean the property to the standard recorded.
If any damage has occurred during the tenancy it is advised to resolve the damage at your expense and not leave it to the agency as this will need to be organised at short notice to ensure the property is ready for a new tenant and this is likely to incur a higher cost. If you require contact details for approved repairers then please ask a member of the team. Alternatively you may have taken out liability cover at the start of the tenancy so you should inform the insurer as early as possible to have any accidental damage resolved.
When it comes to vacating the property you have the choice to either return the keys to our office on the final day of the tenancy or be present for the check-out inspection with the independent clerk. If you would like to be present then you must ensure you are ready to return the keys at that time. You will not be given additional time to correct anything highlighted by the clerk so it is important you read the original inventory in detail. if you are returning the keys to the office we will then book the next available slot for the clerk to visit. Failure to be ready for the inspection or not returning the keys in time may result in an abortive charge from the inventory company.
